Maersk CLX service leaves San Antonio and returns to Valparaíso

November 18, 2021

The CLX service, also known as Chile Express, of the Maersk shipping company will cease to be served in the Port of San Antonio as Maersk decided to transfer that weekly operation for import and export containers to the Port of Valparaíso, specifically, to the facilities of Terminal Pacífico Sur.

Franco Gandolfo, general manager of Puerto Valparaíso, said that “the arrival of the Maersk service at Terminal Pacífico Sur Valparaíso is the result of a long work carried out by the concessionaire of Terminal 1 to deliver an excellent service to its customers. Similarly, it is a reflection of the good work that we are doing today – together with the entire port community of our port city – to ratify and enhance the efficiency of our terminals through leadership in technological innovation and coordination of the Valparaíso logistics system. Finally, it is also the answer to the great potential that Valparaiso has given its operational continuity thanks to its sheltered waters and the maturity of its port community ”.

The service, which mobilizes a high percentage of reefer containers, will call TPS weekly and will offer an additional connection alternative for national importers and exporters between Valparaíso and the base ports of Europe such as Rotterdam, the Netherlands; Antwerp, Belgium, and Hamburg, Germany, as well as connections and transfers to other intermediate destinations, such as Cartagena, Manzanillo, Balboa and Callao.

According to Maersk, Polar Chile ship will start this service on December 15th.
